€�The Song of Achilles” by Madeline Miller is a book that takes mythology and makes it easy to read and comprehend. Patroclus, an awkward young prince, has been exiled to the kingdom of Phthia. Here he is nobody, just another unwanted boy living in the shadow of King Peleus and his golden son, Achilles. What can I say, to convey how wonderful The Song of Achilles was? The longlist for the 2013 Women's Prize for Fiction has been announced this week and I, personally, am quite pleased by it. Ancient Greece is probably my favourite time period. The Song of Achilles Many people have largely regarded this book as a retelling of The Iliad through the perspective of Patroclus. It seems to me that this second theme has been diminished, is almost absent, in The Song of Achilles, to make room for the relationship between Achilles and Patroclus that Miller wants to portray. I'm somewhere in between and not sure what to think about it. Words could never describe how I feel about this book. I've read this novel few weeks ago and ever since am thinking to write review.
